Drive the Alaska Highway
Typically found on the top of everyone's bucket list, Driving the Alaska Highway is typically one of the top ten things to do before time runs out on our abilities to travel in such remote regions. This area is desolate This new site will record a daily journal of our return to Alaska from East Dubuque Illinois. Why East Dubuque you say, well we just purchased a larger motorhome from Runde Chevrolet and will be driving it back to Alaska taking our sweet ole time in doing so. We plan to sample a few of the alternate routes along the way, visit the top tourist destinations and explore the many RV campgrounds available along the Alaska Highway in 2010.
Drive To Alaska
Beginning at mile "0" in Dawson Creek British Columbia we will travel up the Alaska Highway through the Yukon Territory and on into Alaska ending up in Anchorage Alaska. Our route will take us through Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Stony Mountain, Summit Lake, Liard Hot Springs, Watson Lake, Whitehorse, and Haines Junction, Kluane Lake, Beaver Creek, Tok Alaska and Delta Junction.
The total distance we noted from Dawson Creek BC to Delta Junction Alaska was 1377 miles. This accounts for mainly paved highway miles as we recorded in the log from our trip.
Currently we are still traveling throughout in Alaska and will be headed southbound come September. But this portion of the website will be relating to our 2010 drive to Alaska via the World Renowned Alaska Highway. So let's get started; here is our take on the best of the best in Driving the Alaska Highway.
Day 1; Camping at Walmart in Dawson Creek B.C.
